Fire flamesAL LLEGAR EL DÍA DE PENTECOSTÉS, ESTABAN TODOS REUNIDOS EN EL MISMO LUGAR.

Si Tú no vienes a consolarnos…

READINGS FOR PENTECOST SUNDAY 2025 – JUNE 8, 2025 – PENTECOST SUNDAY READINGS 2025 – JUNE 8, 2025

JESUS COMES INTO THE MIDST OF HIS DISCIPLES, AND SAYS TO THEM ‘PEACE BE WITH YOU’. The PEACE that Jesus gives to the disciples is the PEACE that they themselves need to feel and rejoice in the presence of the Holy Spirit in each heart. It is the PEACE they need to come out of the enclosure into which they have gone out of fear, where they feel alone without the Master, a loneliness that makes them despair and quiet without knowing how to go on. That PEACE embraces them and encourages them in joy to be witnesses of the loving presence of the Father, of the Son and in the Holy Spirit.

‘PEACE BE WITH YOU’, Jesus invites us and sends us to go out into the world, to become a Church that goes out, to feel the gift of the Holy Spirit that is upon each one of us like tongues of fire, that makes us speak from the depths of our hearts, from the conviction, from an experience of deep FAITH, from an experience of that GOD of PENTECOST who gives Himself and presents Himself in the midst of a world that continues to challenge us to be missionary disciples, preachers of HOPE, of a HOPE that does not disappoint.

Fire flames

“WHEN THE DAY OF PENTECOST HAD COME, THEY WERE ALL TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE. SUDDENLY A SOUND CAME FROM HEAVEN, LIKE A MIGHTY RUSH OF WIND, AND IT SOUNDED THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE WHERE THEY WERE. THEN THEY SAW TONGUES OF FIRE APPEARING AND DESCENDING ON EACH OF THEM SEPARATELY. THEY WERE ALL FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AND BEGAN TO SPEAK IN DIFFERENT TONGUES, AS THE SPIRIT ENABLED THEM TO SPEAK.

The tongues of fire in each one of us make us speak in the language of love, of human gestures that lead us to meet others in an embrace, in a look, in a smile and where each one does their bit to add to the common good. Those tongues of fire make us speak in the breaking  and sharing of bread with others because in the world we live in today here, there is suffering from the injustices of policies that hurt and damage the common home, that starve the people, that persecute migrants all over the world, that take away peace at all times. There is no dialogue to reach agreements for the good life of the people who leave their villages in search of a place to live, truly longing for peace, there is a constant exodus for peace. Above all, such policies attack human dignity and empty life of meaning. It is there where as Preachers of the Truth we are present, putting our soul and body, trusting that the Holy Spirit is upon each one of us, giving us the TRUE PEACE to go forward, not to despair in the daily struggles, not to stop shouting and taking risks like the prophet at all times.

Today we are invited to continue walking in the WAYS OF PEACE, to feel the FIRE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT truly in our HEART, in our HUMANITY and in our CHURCH.

And as this little piece of the lyrics of the song ‘SI TU NO VIENES’ says, Author Eduardo Meana. (Author Eduardo Meana. Salesian)

‘…If you do not rekindle the fire…But, if you come to recreate us and like a breath you give life to the clay, like an artist you will be shaping the new face of children and brothers and sisters

So come, Holy Spirit, come, Holy Spirit, come.

If You do not come, we will forget the hope we carry; we will succumb to discouragement and weeping.

If You do not come to comfort us…

If You do not come and do not shake our house with Your wind and consecrate us with a seal of prophets, we will be afraid if You do not change us, but if You come and in the silence of our souls write new rules among us, the certain history of the new Kingdom will be woven….

Therefore come, Holy Spirit, come, Holy Spirit, come…’.
