Reflection of the Epiphany of the Lord

On this Solemnity we celebrate the manifestation of God with us, the Emmanuel, the manifestation of God with us in our history, in our humanity, in the here and now…

Manifestation of God with us that is made possible in every humble, simple and hope-filled human heart …

TO ADORE THE CHILD GOD AND TO REJOICE IN THIS UNIQUE EXPERIENCE…

The magi, wise magi, who came following the light of a star, a light that caught their attention, a light that was different from their daily experience and in their searches invited them to set out on the way, to continue on the way, not to stop until they discovered what that light was about, being faithful on the way and persevering on the journey.

The Magi, following the light of a star, discovered the God of life lying in a manger surrounded by life and love, they were able to appreciate and find the meaning of the star that guided them and drew their attention to the fact that it was the star of the Child God.

The Magi, the wise ones, offered the Child born in the manger, the Child God with Us, Emmanuel, their adoration and reverence by giving very significant gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, recognising in Jesus the God made man in our humanity, recognising his divinity, divinity that crosses cultures, peoples and nations….

In our Dominican life let us not lose the sense of following the light on the way, the light of hope, on the paths of peace and justice, walking in the light of hope to which the Jubilee of this year 2025 invites us, Pope Francis invites us, which emphasizes that hope is the virtue that allows believers to glimpse the goal: ‘the encounter with the Lord Jesus’ being ‘Pilgrims of hope’, perhaps as it happened to the wise men and women who were called to the Jubilee of the year 2025, perhaps as happened to the wise ones from the East….

And as the little piece of a song says:

‘Today, at last, we have to go on walking in peace, hoping against hope…

You are life, you are peace, you are our hope.

You are the way to walk, you are strength and you are confidence’.
