Continental Meeting of Promoters of Justice, Peace and Integration of Creation in Latin America and the Caribbean.of Latin America and the Caribbean.

In Mexico City, from 15 to 18 November 2024, at the San Cayetano Retreat House of the Teatinos Brothers, the Justice and Peace meeting was organised by the JPIC Commission of CODALC, chaired by Sister Aparecida Souza, OP, in charge of the general coordination, and the Sisters from the 4 regions (Bolivarian, Caribbean, Mesoamerica and Southern Cone).

Noemí Zambrano, OP and Mrs. Rosa Nagel, lay associate in Argentina, represented the Congregation at this gathering.

The meeting dealt with issues that have a global impact on the whole of humanity, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean, namely: Climate Change, Forced Migration and Human Trafficking.

After the speakers on each topic, there were moments of reflection in groups, sharing experiences and defining lines of action by region,  looking beyond borders and with a greater  growing awareness of ourcharismatic family. Together we can be agents of change for a more just and supportive society.

With the testimonies of those who suffer the scourge of violence, organised crime, forced migration and various social problems in Chiapas, Mexico, the shock to the core and the open heart embraced these realities with the commitment to contribute something to the mission, to continue defending life, the dignity of women and to continue denouncing everything that violates human rights.

At the end of the meeting, the meeting was placed under the mantle of Our Lady of The patron saint of Latin America to all the people who suffer for lack of Justice and Peace. And to the Common Home that groans with pain.
